‘Emika - Untitled’, produced for RSD 2026, in Jim Barr’s studio (Portishead). Inspired by Record Store Day and the experience from releasing special projects this way in 2023 and 2024, I produced this album with RSD 2026 in mind. For me it’s nice to have a time of year and RSD collective, to make a album for, where I can approach things differently, with record shops and album-lovers in mind first (before streaming and playlists) and step outside of my Emika blueprints, meaning fans can collect a different side to my work this way. After having a chat with Jim Barr (from the band Portishead) about using studios more as spaces for improvising, not only to hire one to finish pre-written songs in, I saw it both as an invitation and challenge, to spend a week in his studio, jamming around. ‘Emika - Untitled’, produced for RSD 2026, in Jim Barr’s studio (Portishead).
